Oh A-Camping we will go!

This past weekend we went camping with our friends Stacey and Brandon and their dog, Strider. It was the first time we've been camping with Evie, and it ended up being a great experience. She was at a fun age to camp since she was so happy to be outside all day long and to go "night-night" in her tent at night. (We put her peapod in the same tent as ours so she felt extra-cozy!)

When we got to our campsite it was so foggy and misty. But we all got right to work and the tents were put up relatively quickly. The guys did an awesome job on this tarp over our picnic table which ended up being a necessity!

Evie loved her little hanging chair on the picnic table. She even had a special treat one day and got to watch Toy Story 3 on Stacey's i-Pad while sitting there! (I know that sounds wrong to watch a movie when camping, but we had one afternoon where we just needed her to sit still for a little bit, and that is what we resorted to!)

We had to cook through all the fog!

The next day we decided to go on a short "1 hour" hike. It was a beautiful day and the hike took us down to a waterfall.

We just didn't realize that what we hiked down we would have to hike back up. And the hike down was at least 3 miles. So, we had a nice, long, sweaty hike back, and poor Chris had an extra 25 pounds on his back! It was a beautiful day, though, and we really enjoyed being out in nature.

Brandon making Jiffy Pop popcorn over the fire. When's the last time you made that popcorn??

Our camping buddies- we love them!

I was trying to get a picture of Strider swimming in the water, and then Evie poked her head in at just the right time!

On the last day, Evie got a special canoe ride with her daddy.

We had a marvelous weekend! It really wasn't too tricky camping with a toddler. In fact, we hope to do it again sometime this year with my sister and her family!
