I'm a wanna-be do-it-yourself-er. I love the idea of creating something gorgeous out of scraps. But I'm just not creative. I need people to do something first, tell me step-by-step how to do it, and then years down the road when I finally get the motivation, I'll start it and maybe finish it. I think if I had a "craft" room, then maybe it would be easier. And, oh yeah, if I didn't have two little ones tugging at my legs all day, then it would probably be easier, too. But every once in awhile I go on a spree and get very motivated to make our house look pretty with things that I make, not with things I buy (although, after buying all the materials for my "spree" I'm wondering if it may have been cheaper just to buy it all fully made. Oh well.)
So, here's what I've been up to for the last couple of days...
| I spray painted tree branches when Chris was trimming some of our trees, and I already had a spray-painting project going on anyway. At Christmas I'll hang some ornaments on the branches. |
| Vase filled with old coffee beans, a picture of Hannah and Evie dancing at our good friend's wedding, and snow-painted plastic greenery. |
| Red spray paint, glitter spray paint, wood glue |
| NOEL will go on the wall at Christmas, snowflakes will hang from the ceiling by our tree. |
| Evie's drop-off corner for her school bag. This was pretty much the only space in our house that wasn't used. I cut out a cute picture from a gift bag, laminated it, and taped it to a white tray from Salvation Army that I spray-painted white. Yes, white spray paint was used a lot this weekend. |
| Simple wreaths and ribbon hanging from every window on our lower level. |
So, really, compared to what other people can do, and what my friends have done, this is elementary, at best. But it felt good to try my hand at a few projects that hopefully will last through the years.
