Lancaster

So much to do, so little time.  And this blog has been on the bottom of the list, unfortunately.  All of the "so much to do" are mostly good things- mainly, raising 2 kids.  It just takes a lot more time than raising 1 child.  And raising 2 mobile, active children takes even more time than raising 1 mobile child and a baby.  So, even though you may not hear from us for weeks at a time, just know that we are mostly having fun, although with raising kids there are definitely enough of those "not so fun" times.

But onto the blog post!  Memorial Day weekend we went to Lancaster with our very good friends.  We were able to stay with Tina's sister's family so we had a free, beautiful home to stay in while enjoying all the sites of Pennsylvania.

We stopped at Hershey's Chocolate World on the way up.  It seems like I always have to be in the picture with a "scary" character.

We went on the tour 2 times.  Both girls loved it!

Whenever we passed the singing cows, Cora would laugh hysterically and point at them.

Then we stopped at an Amish miniature horse farm.  All the horses had their heads poking out the windows.

This is a blurry picture, but there is a cute little Amish boy a little further down.  He was probably 4 years old, and he was very obviously trying to show off to Evie.
The next day we had a tour of a cow farm.  There were about 1,000 cows on this farm with 80 calves.  What a fun experience!

I love their carefree skipping!

Cora LOVED the calves.  She kept calling to them in what she thought was their language, but it absolutely terrified the calves, and they cowered in the corners.

Oh, the smell of a cow farm.  I feel like I can reasonably accept nature and all that comes with it, but this smell would certainly take some getting used to!

I love these kids!

So, this is a little flashback.  Chris and I went to Lancaster with Mark and Tina before we had kids.  We had a nice, leisurely stroll through Kitchen Ketlle, sampling food, buying cute little handmade products.  It was so nice.
And now 2 crazy kids later, Chris doesn't even get in the picture.  I'll just say that this excursion was not leisurely, nor did we get to slowly sample food, or even look at handmade products.  With 6 kids in tow, we decided that Kitchen Kettle was maybe not the best idea.

So we found a great play farm and we spent hours there.  The kids loved it and were thoroughly wiped out by the end of the day!

Cute little cowboys!

We had an easy pizza meal that night.

One of the most fun parts of the house we stayed in was the huge 3 car garage where the kids could ride bikes.
It was a great weekend.  We had wonderful hospitality, wonderful time with friends, and good food galore.  What could be better!
