We have officially been a family of four for 1 week now, and it has been a really good week! Now I must keep in perspective that my mom is staying here with us so therefore I haven't had to cook a meal, I've been able to take a shower every day, there is 1 adult for every child, my mom is incredibly creative at keeping the curious 2 year old busy while I'm feeding Cora, I haven't had to get up at 7 am with the 2 year old, the newborn is sleeping 23 hours of the day... so technically, this isn't real life yet. But it has been a great start for us, and I hope that by the time she leaves our family will be on a pretty good routine.
Here are some pictures from this past week...
Evie came to visit her little sister in the hospital. She was completely silent for about 4 minutes, just taking it all in. For those of you that know Evie well, she is not a silent child!
She brought Cora a teddy bear. It was so sweet! But after those 4 silent minutes, we realized pretty quickly that a hospital room and an active 2 year old is not a good combination!
The adjustment for Evie has been a little tough. She's been very weepy this week and very clingy to Mommy. She needs lots of cuddle time and kisses, which I absolutely love giving her. She even fell asleep in my arms which she hasn't done since she was 6 months old! But despite all that, she LOVES Cora. She wants to smother her in kisses all the time. Unfortunately, they are not gentle kisses, hence my hand in the picture holding her back.
This is what we see for about an hour every day! Cora loves looking around her world. She is a very content child. So far, she really never cries. I'm not getting my hopes up yet, but having a newborn the second time around really is so much easier. The lack of sleep thing and the feeding around the clock aren't so bad. Plus, I know that there is an end in sight and she will eventually fall into a nice schedule. I was so stressed about scheduling Evie as a newborn that I didn't allow myself to enjoy all the sweet moments I had with her.
The pack and play is great, but it's not quite wide enough to keep little hands from tugging at little toes.
One of my favorite times of the day is when we all sit down and watch Elmo together after Evie's nap. For some reason, Elmo isn't stimulating enough to keep Chris awake!
Evie has lots of great new toys and activities to keep her busy while I'm feeding Cora. My parents have brought out 1 new activity a day for her. This easel is awesome! And we use Color Wonder markers and paper so that we don't get messes on our furniture.
Beautiful pictures - beautiful mama - beautiful girls! So happy for you and so glad Cora is such an easy baby so far! Aren't girls so much fun? :)
ReplyDeleteI love their little headbands, so sweet! Looks like you are doing great. I can totally relate to the not-so-gentle older sibling loving. It looks like Evie loves Cora just like Everett loves Nolan! :)
