I Love this new stage that we're in. Evie has a whole slew of imaginary friends, seems to be a new one every day. And they are all Very important to her. The most frequent visitors we have to our home are Swiper (from Dora the Explorer), Barney (of course), and a family of mice. Sometimes when I'm in the kitchen cooking I'll hear Evie talking to someone and then she'll open the front door and usher in her new friends. She'll greet them all, introduce them to each other, then take them by the hand and give them a tour of the house. She'll sit them down on the couch and read them books. We usually have to reserve an empty seat or two at dinner for them. It just makes me smile watching her, maybe because it brings back memories of my imaginary friends, Flower-Tree and Cramie La Du (don't ask where that name came from).
The funniest, and yet most frustrating, part about these imaginary friends is that they become excuses for breaking rules. For example,
"But Mommy, I have to go outside. Barney fell down and hurt himself."
"Mommy, my mice are running away! I have to go to the front yard to get them!"
"But Daddy, I'm saving my broccoli for Swiper."
Creative, yes, but we still don't let her get away with it! :)
This is great Liss. Evie is just about the same age as you were when we moved to Colorado and you had those imaginary friends. Love Dad
