Our Beef

Chris and I drove out to Delaplane, VA to pick up the beef that we ordered. Our 1/4 cow weighed in at 93 pounds, so we needed 3 big coolers to fit all the meat. It was so nice to be out in the country for the morning. And we loved seeing the farm where the meat came from. It's so refreshing.

It was a little cloudy and drizzly, but I think the cows live pretty well out in this country.

Chris wanted me to post these next 2 photos specifically for David Black. He figured that Dave would appreciate this amusement park as much as he did.

We went straight to my sister's house and sorted out the meat. We each received about 46 pounds of beef. It was very exciting to see it all laid out on the table. The cooler was full of 1 pound containers of ground beef.

Thank goodness they labeled everything for us, otherwise we might have cooked this tongue for dinner.

We will give this heart to the first person to respond to our post- FREE! Any takers????

Sandy and I are going to keep very busy cooking steaks, roasts, and many many meals of ground beef!

  1. Wow that tounge is huge! I guess it's time to pull out an old school cookbook, like something from Julia Childs. ;)
