This past weekend, Chris and I were able to get away for a night thanks to family and friends who babysat Evie. We went a few hours south to a David Crowder Band concert, and then spent the next day visiting Chris' alma mater. The whole time we kept saying how nice it was that we didn't have to:
- eat in a restaurant with a toddler
- sit through a concert while keeping a toddler content (we saw a few parents there with 2 year olds and we felt for them!)
- wake up early and feed a hungry toddler breakfast
- take quick 2 minute showers before starting the day
- watch only toddler tv
- drive in the car with an uncontent toddler
It was a really nice break from routine, but we sure did miss her. We just wanted to cuddle with her all day on Sunday- too bad she's not much of a cuddler!
We stayed in a really unique, historic hotel that used to be a tobacco factory. We loved the exposed brick and stone walls. After this stay, we've decided to try to find a historic hotel whenever we get away since it will always be a unique experience.
At night, we put out this shoebox with a checklist of the items we wanted for breakfast, and in the morning the box was filled with food. How nice to have breakfast in bed!
David Crowder, we really love you and the work you do for the Lord, but these clothes? Oh my.
It was such a fun and worshipful concert. The band was amazing and did a great job leading the audience in worship to the Lord instead of to them.
After we drove back we went straight to a dinner party for our friend, David, on his 30th birthday.
It was an amazing night. They hired a French chef to come into their house and cook a 6 course meal for us. The food was outstanding. I have never enjoyed 4 hours of eating more in my life! And it was so nice to get to know some other people in a comfortable, relaxed environment.

Before every course, the chef came out to explain to us more about the dish and how it was prepared. It was a great culinary experience.
