What a fun day!

We had a great day as a family.  What a treat to have Chris home in the middle of the week!  Evie and I walked down to Best Buns to bring some breakfast home.  Then we hung around the house for the morning.  Evie got invited to a picnic and manicures by our neighbors.  She was in heaven!  As I was eavesdropping, I heard lots of talk about Spongebob and Dora.  (Evie has never heard of Spongebob but she pretended that she knew all about him!)

In the afternoon we went to Chris' parent's house for a cookout.  Then we decided to take the plunge and bring 2 kids to a late night fireworks display.  I must admit that it seemed like a big deal to us, but then we thought that there are probably hundreds of thousands of kids under the age of 3 attending fireworks this year, so why not our kids?

The thing that made it even more attractive was that my brother's house is right across the street from the high school where they were setting them off.  So we decided to park close to his house and use his yard as our viewing area.  Well, hundreds of other people had the same idea.  Needless to say after a stressful drive and a sweaty 15 minute walk we made it on time and watched a fantastic display!

Evie started out on Daddy's lap but then she wanted to jump up and dance.

She kept turning around to us and yelling, "Mommy, Daddy, I'm not scared!"  She had a bad experience with fireworks at Christmas!

Our sweaty little girl.

The next 2 pictures perfectly describe the personalities of our girls

Poor Cora just wanted to sleep and was annoyed by the loud fireworks.

Our little party girl was so excited to be up past her bedtime.  When we got home at 10:30 she said, "Mommy, I'm not tired!"  But as soon as her little head hit the pillow she was out.

So it was well worth the effort.  It's fun to be adventurous with the kids every once in awhile!
